James Dyer

James Dyer FSA (1934-2013) was a teacher, archaeologist, local historian, excavator and educationalist of huge importance in his native Luton and beyond. He was a member of BHRS, a founder member of the Bedfordshire Archaeological Council and a member of other local and national archaeological societies. As well as writing many books on local history and archaeology, he was editor of the Bedfordshire Archaeological Journal, editor of the Bedfordshire Magazine (1965-1974) and archaeology editor for Shire Publications from 1974 (opens in a new window).
